A New Look for a New Season

After a fantastic weekend on March 15/16 presenting New Zealand’s Black Grace, and releasing our new 2013/14 Season with two very successful “Jump the Queue” parties, we are finding it a little difficult to wind down. Now begins that stretch of time between seasons where we dust off our to-do lists (and this blog *ahem*), re-evaluate our programs and practices, and strategize for the upcoming year. But how do you get the wheels to stop turning after going going going from September-March (think late nights in the office, lots of work from home, and literally dreaming about work logistics).

As we look back on the 2012/13 season, we have a lot to celebrate. One of those successes being the Jump the Queue parties following the Black Grace performances. We invited our current subscribers to join us in the lobby following the show for a complimentary drink, some delicious appies (courtesy of Truffles Catering) and to take a number. The Royal Theatre kept the box office open so that we could “pre-sell” season subscriptions before they went on sale to the general public the following week.  Having never done this before, we were a little concerned with how it would go, and whether our patrons would be comfortable waiting for their number to be called. But, the worry was for nothing – most of our patrons were thrilled. They had an opportunity to chat with Stephen about the upcoming season, and to meet the dancers from New Zealand. I approached the patron with the last number of the night to thank them for waiting, and they were thrilled. Champagne + Charcuterie + the Seats they Wanted = Happy Patrons. Let’s all breathe a collective sigh of relief on that one.

In the midst of the Jump the Queue/Presenting Black Grace mayhem, I was working with Rayola Creative on a new look for our website, to launch with the new season. I’m very happy with the results – a fresh clean look for the website, with easy to navigate photos and videos highlighting each show. What do you think?

And finally, we’re pretty proud of the season that Stephen has put together. Which show are you most excited about? (We have to wait until November. Really?)
