A Canadian Nutcracker eh!

Dance Victoria is pleased to bring a Special Presentation of Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet’s Nutcracker to the Royal Theatre from December 2 through to December 4, 2016 accompanied by the Victoria Symphony.

This Canadian-themed production with choreography by Galina Yordanova and Nina Menon opens with a hockey game on a pond, features RCMP officers in a battle on Parliament Hill, and gives some nods to the Hudson Bay Company. To add to the fun, the mischievous Filbert the Bear steals the Christmas pudding. Furry mice and Hazel the Polar Bear with her 12 cubs will warm your heart. Adrian Chamberlain of Times Colonist calls it “…the most visually stunning Nutcracker I’ve ever seen…one of the most memorable to visit our city.” More than 150 musicians, crew members, dancers and volunteers will bring this production to life. RWB’s 2014 production was so popular in Victoria that it remains Dance Victoria’s top-grossing production of all time.

Join us in the lobby at 1:15 pm (matinees) and 6:45 pm (evenings) for Nutcracker story time (free).
