Dance Victoria is accepting applications from dance artists to be considered
for the 2017 Chrystal Dance Prize – Emerging Dance Artists from April 3 to May 12, 2017.

The Chrystal Dance Prize is Canada’s richest dance prize for international collaboration. Earlier in 2017, close to $20,000 was awarded to Vancouver dance artist Arash Khakpour and $16,000 to Vancouver dance artist Meredith Kalaman in the Independent Dance Artist category. Dance Victoria will award an additional $6,000 in an Emerging Dance Artist category for young dancers completing their training at a recognized international dance institution. Past awards have been provided for students attending The Juilliard School, the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School of Ballet (ABT), Butler University and more. The 2016 Emerging Artist Award winner was Matilda Çobanli who went on to study at the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance. You can learn more about Matilda’s experiences in Salzburg and the impact that the Chrystal Dance Prize has had on her as a developing dance artist in this video.

Deadline for application submissions is May 12, 2017.
