At its Annual General Meeting on November 5, 2017, Dance Victoria Society announced an operating surplus for the third year running, reducing its accumulated deficit to within 4.5% of budget. In 2016/17, the organization brought more than 21,000 people to its programs including the Dance at the Royal Series and its annual Dance Days Festival held each January. The most successful presentation of the year was Royal Winnipeg Ballet’s The Nutcracker accompanied by the Victoria Symphony. This classic family show brought more than 5,300 people (96% capacity) to the Royal Theatre over four performances. Overall, the organization’s Dance at the Royal Series operated at 89% capacity.
