2018 Chrystal Dance Prize for Emerging Dance Artists
Applications Open From April 3 to May 12, 2018

Applications for the 2018 Chrystal Dance Prize for Emerging Dance Artists open on April 3, 2018. Interested dance artists must apply by May 12, 2018, 4 p.m. PDT.

The Chrystal Dance Prize is Canada’s richest dance prize for international collaboration. Earlier in 2018, $12,000 was awarded in the Independent Dance Artist category to Victoria dance theatre artist Stacey Horton, and $25,000 to Ballet BC’s commission of a new Romeo and Juliet choreographed by French dance maker Medhi Walerski, one of the most original voices in international dance today.

The Chrystal Dance Prize for Emerging Dance Artists is a scholarship program for dancers/dance artists wanting to continue or complete their training and/or studies at a recognized institution outside Canada. Applicants must be residents of western Canada and this prize only supports full-time studies. Intensives and summer programs are not eligible for support from the Chrystal Dance Prize program. Preference will be given to Victoria residents; however, it’s worth noting there are years when no Victoria students apply making it an open field. If artists are entering a second or third year of study, and are living in a foreign country, their permanent address or place of origin must be in western Canada…
