Dance Victoria presents MAN by Norwegian choreographer Sølvi Edvardsen with award-winning South Asian dancer Sudesh Adhana. Dance Victoria Executive Producer Stephen White saw MAN in Copenhagen during the ICE HOT Dance Festival in 2016. He was so impressed with Adhana’s interpretive skills that he offered to bring the performance to Canada. Dance Victoria has organized a cross-Canada tour of MAN to Halifax, St. Catharines, Salt Spring Island, Nanaimo, Vancouver and Victoria.
In MAN, Adhana uses only a small sitting stool as his partner to embody the struggles of a bicultural identity, while considering who is he? Where does he come from? At the heart of the work is Edvardsen’s exploration of how we put limits on ourselves based on our life experiences.
