Dance Victoria welcomes Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet for a special presentation of Nutcracker accompanied by the Victoria Symphony at the Royal Theatre from December 2 through December 4, 2022.

Nutcracker has toured to the Royal Theatre for years showcasing the talents of Canada’s top prima ballerinas and dancers. A heartfelt gift from Clara’s godfather kicks off an incredible adventure when the Nutcracker springs to life! From a battle with the fiendish Mouse King to the opulent kingdom of the Sugar Plum Fairy, the costumes, choreography, and characters in this distinctly Canadian production are bound to capture your eyes and your heart. As the clock strikes midnight, Clara falls in love with her dashing Nutcracker prince and finds herself on a storybook journey that will take her into the heart of a timeless fairy tale.

This Royal Winnipeg Ballet production continues to be Dance Victoria’s largest-scale presentation. In addition to RWB’s 27 company dancers, Nutcracker engages approximately 45 members of the Victoria Symphony; 72 children from local dance schools in the Nutcracker Ensemble; and 35 backstage crew for each performance.
