On November 14 + 15, 2025, the season opens with the Canadian premiere of Hung Dance (Taiwan). Led by Artistic Director Lai Hung-Chung, “one of the best young choreographers working in Taiwan today”(Taipei Times), the company will perform the award-winning and visually stunning BIRDY. Hung Dancehas transfixed international audiences with striking movement and storytelling that weaves Western mythology and Eastern traditions.

On February 6 + 7, 2026, Italy’s leading contemporary company Aterballetto makes a rare visit to North America with a program featuring Iratxe Ansa and Igor Bacovich’s Rhapsody in Blue and Crystal Pite’s Solo Echo. Comprising 16 dancers, the company “bursts with youthful buoyancy and lyric ease” (Los Angeles Times) and displays a commitment to artistry and avant-garde aesthetics that will stun audiences.

On March 6 + 7, 2026, New York-based GALLIM will take the Royal Theatre by storm with an exuberant contemporary program by Andrea Miller – the first choreographer to be named Artist in Residence at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In this Victoria premiere, the company’s mixed program will showcase Miller’s range and ingenuity with a selection of bold and thought-provoking dance works that will leave audiences electrified.  The season culminates with a soulful mixed program by Boca Tuya (New York) on April 10 + 11, 2026. Under the visionary direction of Puerto Rican choreographer Omar Román de Jesús, this rising company features some of New York’s top movement artists. Audiences will experience immersive dreamscapes that blend vibrant cadence, surrealist narratives, and unforgettable characters that pulsate to the distinct Boricua (Puerto Rican) heartbeat.

On January 16, 2026, recent Chrystal Dance Prize winner Belle Spirale Dance Projects (Vancouver) brings UNIVERSUS to the McPherson Playhouse. This remarkable double-bill features works by choreographers Alexis Fletcher and Fernando Hernando Magadan that explore themes of resilience, connection, and hope while questioning humanity’s ability to adapt and find purpose on a chaotic, changing planet.
