OURO Collective
OURO Collective

OURO Collective (OURO) creates and produces new dance works on the unceded territories of the
xwməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh)
Nations.

As individual artists coming from diverse cultural and dance backgrounds, OURO Collective sees collaboration as a catalyst for dialogue, creative innovation, and community building. United around the common goal of pushing the boundaries of how street dance-based works are created and presented, OURO Collective is dedicated to creating performances that explore the full range of possibilities and identities the group represent.

OURO self-presented their first piece, M.Sessions, in 2014-2015. In 2015-2016, they self-presented a double bill featuring their second piece, PACE, and a piece commissioned by Tentacle Tribe, Kaleido. PACE has since been performed in the Yukon, Seattle, Guelph, and BC. In 2016-2017, they premiered their first full-length work, TANGENT, at New Works at Night Series and has since been performed in Tokyo, and throughout BC. In 2018-2019, OURO produced their second full-length work, HAKO, in collaboration with public installation team, Tangible, through a residency and premiere at The Shadbolt
Centre for the Arts. HAKO made its digital premiere in March 2021 through a virtual residency at the Revelstoke Centre for the Arts. OURO presented FIRE 06, a 20-minute commissioned piece for Dancing on the Edge in July 2021. They received the Chrystal Dance Prize to create a short film premiering in October 2021 entitled, 7y98D, in collaboration with LA-based dancer Rubberlegz. Their third full-length piece, SOTTO 51, is set to premiere in September 2021.
