Vancouver-based Artists in Residence
Luciana Freire D’Anunciação is a dance artist and choreographer whose works has been exhibited/performed in institutions internationally such as Vancouver Fringe Festival (Vancouver, 2015), Shooting Gallery Series (Vancouver), Recife International Dance Festival (Brazil, 2017) Vizualeyez Festival (Edmonton, 2015), Perfomance Biennale Deformes (Santiago, Chile – 2014), European Performance Art Festival (Poland, 2011). She has also danced for other choreographer’s works such as Kelly McInnes’s Exquisite Dust (Vines’s Arts Festival, 2021) and SHINY (VIDF, 2019); Daisy Thompson’s Remarks on Being (Buds Festival, 2015) Emmalena Fredriksson and Arash Khakpour’s Untitled Distances (2022).
Her works consider the body as an instrument of creative expression in connection with the other and with the world in a poetic and political way. She is interested in the dynamic between spectacle and ritual, rational and intuitive, individual and collective.She holds a master’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in Arts from Simon Fraser University and has a background in somatic dance practices, contact improvisation, improvisation in dance, butoh, dances from the African diaspora, physical theatre and clown.

Gratefully based on the unceded Coast Salish territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations, Kelly McInnes is a dance artist concerned with embodying care, sensuality, hope and complexity. As choreographer, performer and community-engaged facilitator, the intention of her work is to inspire collective healing. She creates as a way to remember and celebrate the creative intelligence and wonder of life. Recently completing her training in Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, Kelly’s artistic work is now powerfully inspired by this practice. Often multi-disciplinary, collaborative and site specific, her choreographic work has been presented locally in festivals such as Dance In Vancouver, Vines Art Festival, Vancouver International Dance Festival and rEvolver festival, as well as nationally at the Feminist Art Conference, SKAMpede Festival and internationally at Lake Studios Berlin and Espacio Expectante, as well as her growing portfolio of self-presentations. As a performer, Kelly has danced the works of EDAM Dance, MACHiNENOiSY, Restless Productions, Out Innerspace Dance Theatre, 605 collective, LINK Dance/Gail Lotenberg, Metal Dog, Chick Snipper, Anne Cooper, Olivia Davies/O.Dela Arts, Daina Ashbee among others. Community-engagement is integral to her practice. She worked with youth over several years through her projects MINE and Epoch Youth Project and she recently completed a 4th and final season as facilitator and artist-in-residence with the Roundhouse Community Dancers.
