Victoria-based Artist in Residence
Framed is an immersive dance and sound experience that mirrors the ever-evolving relationship between self and environment. This site-specific collaboration between dance artist Stacey Horton and sound composer David Parfit invites the audience to experience a unique transformation of space through immersive dance performance, responsive lighting, and interactive music scapes.
Stacey Horton (she/her) has been creating original works for over 25 years. A graduate of Dance and Theatre from Simon Fraser University, she has a multi-disciplinary approach to making and performing new pieces. She has worked with musicians, filmmakers, actors, poets, and Olympic divers.
Horton’s work has been presented in Western Canada and Seattle by Dancing on the Edge, Gambling Soles Productions, Calgary’s Dance Explosions, Seattle’s Under Construction Series, and in Victoria by Bounce, Suddenly Dance Theatre and Dance Victoria. Additionally, her dance films Self-Storage and Hazina have screened in film festivals in Canada, the USA, Australia, and the Canary Islands. Horton received Dance Victoria’s 2018 Chrystal Dance Prize for her work Concussion, which was presented in Berlin in August 2018. The work premiered in Victoria in 2019 to four sold-out performances and was remounted for Brain Injury Awareness Week at the University of Victoria. Concussion was produced in partnership with the Cridge Centre for the Family through a CRD Equity Grant.
