Artist in Residence

Eric Cheung (he/him) is a Vancouver-based interdisciplinary dance artist and choreographer and 2024/25 Chrystal Dance Prize –Projects winner. In connection with the award, Cheung and his collaborator, Japanese dance artist/choreographer Kinui Oiwa, will develop the site-responsive duet IN/YANG. The work explores balance as an essential aspect of our daily lives and as a continuous, fluid process of negotiation and interaction with the world around us.
Eric Cheung (he/him) is an interdisciplinary dance artist and choreographer currently based in so-called Vancouver—on the unceded territories of the xwməθkwəy̓əm, Skwxwú7mesh, and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh Nations. Cheung seeks to create interdisciplinary movement-driven works, using dance as a lens to direct the creative process and composition.
Individually, he has explored different mediums such as film, theatre, interactive digital media, and installation art. Selected works include E_GO, I(n)finite, Re:1974, iye, Diverge, Flux, Liminal, and Null. Cheung is a recipient of the 2024/25 Chrystal Dance Prize-Projects awarded by Dance Victoria and the 2025 Iris Garland Emerging Choreographer Award by The Dance Centre.
