This free workshop is designed for dance educators, choreographers, rehearsal directors, and dancers stepping into leadership roles. Whether you’re currently teaching or transitioning into a leadership position, this session will help you refine your approach to guiding and inspiring students.
Join Vancouver-based dance artist Kay Huang for an interactive and thought-provoking workshop on fostering engagement and collaboration in the dance studio. Through discussion, reflection, and movement exercises, you’ll explore:

Kay Huang is a choreographer, educator, and dance artist living in the traditional unceded territory of the Salish, Musqueam, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, also known as Vancouver. She danced professionally with Karen Jamieson from 1987-1996, and her choreography has been presented both in Vancouver and internationally since 1992.
In 2021, she was a featured artist at the New Works Dance presentation of the Asian Heritage Festival. In 2022, she collaborated with New Cambodian Artists and Thought Train Collective Vancouver, leading to the multi-disciplinary dance and art exhibition “Crossing.” Her solo work “Yellow” was developed during her Artist-in-Residence season with New Works Dance (2022-2023), and “Crossing” was later awarded an Artist-in-Residence position at Eighth & Eight at Massey Theatre (2023-2024).
Kay is a facilitator for New Works Share Dance and The Dance Centre Outreach Programs and mentors numerous emerging artists.
