About the Instructor

Matteo Fiorani, Dancer, CCN/Aterballetto

Matteo Fiorani began his dance training in Modena before continuing his studies internationally. He attended the iBStage International Summer Program in Spain and completed the Certificate Program at the Peridance Capezio Center in New York. His early professional career included work with MdDanza under the direction of Veronica Sassi, as well as a featured role in Giselle by Enzo Celli with Botega Dance Company.

Fiorani was a member of Peridance Contemporary Dance Company through the 2019–2020 season, performing works by a wide range of international choreographers across Europe and North America. His career also includes collaborations with independent choreographers and collectives in both Italy and abroad. In recognition of his artistry, he has received multiple first-prize awards at international dance competitions throughout Italy.

Now a dancer with CCN/Aterballetto, Fiorani brings a wealth of performance experience and a refined contemporary sensibility to his teaching, offering participants direct insight into the company’s repertoire and movement language.

CCN/Aterballetto will perform at the Royal Theatre on Feb. 6 & 7 as part of Dance Victoria’s season, presenting their Western Canadian premiere in a thrilling mixed program. As Italy’s first National Choreographic Centre and a major force in contemporary dance, the company is celebrated for its bold artistry and avant-garde aesthetic. The program features Rhapsody in Blue by Iratxe Ansa and Igor Bacovich — a joyful, large-scale ensemble work set to George Gershwin’s iconic score; Crystal Pite’s Solo Echo, a moving meditation on love, loss, and acceptance; and Diego Tortelli’s Glory Hall, an ecstatic and rebellious work pulsing with raw energy.
