March 16, 2020
Once again, at Dance Victoria, we’d like to express how sad we are that we were forced to cancel our presentations of Ballet BC’s masterful production of Romeo + Juliet. We were truly looking forward to sharing it with you.
When the BC Public Health Authority officially banned public gatherings of 250 or more people on Thursday, March 12, the Ballet BC company had just arrived at the Royal Theatre for an onstage rehearsal. A local crew had been setting up the production for two days, and we were at the end of a successful marketing campaign that had resulted in the sale of 2400 tickets over two nights.
On Friday morning we began to calculate our losses. By noon, the figures added up to be in excess of $100,000, a number that could have a significant impact on Dance Victoria’s sustainability.
Every ticket buyer is entitled to a 100% refund, but we are asking you to help us maintain organizational stability by donating the value of your tickets back to Dance Victoria. We want to continue to bring you the World’s Best Dance and support our dynamic local dance community. Each donation will receive a charitable tax receipt for the value of your purchase.
Call the Royal and McPherson Box Office at 250-386-6121 to activate a charitable receipt or full refund.
Please consider donating an amount in addition to the value of your tickets to assist us as we move through these challenging times. Thank-you.
We encourage you to take action with your tickets before 5:00 pm Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at which time any undeclared revenues held at the Box Office will be converted to donations to Dance Victoria Society for which you will receive a charitable tax receipt.
