Info for Nutcracker ensemble

Information about children's ensemble roles in Ukrainian Shumka Dancers' Nutcracker

Dance Victoria is excited to present a new version of Nutcracker this year. Ukrainian Shumka Dancers‘ Nutcracker runs from November 29 to December 1, 2019 at the Royal Theatre. This production requires a very small children’s ensemble of 12 dancers who have a Ukrainian folk dance foundation. Dance Victoria is partnering with local Ukrainian dance school Veselka Dance for this purpose.

As a result, there will be no public auditions for Nutcracker this season.

Shumka’s Nutcracker blends the grace and lyricism of classical ballet with the strength and power of Ukrainian folk and character dance. This classic tale of young Clara and her dream Prince incorporates Ukrainian symbols and traditions and lavish sets and costumes designed by National Opera of Ukraine’s Maria Levitska. The production will feature principal ballet dancers from the Kyiv Ballet (National Opera of Ukraine), folk dancers from the famous Virsky National Dance Ensemble, and Clara’s Dream Choir.

Early bird Nutcracker tickets will go on sale August 15 through to September 15. Adults save up to 20% off regular priced tickets for this month.
