2023/24 Artist in Residence
Fiana Kawane is a dance artist and choreographer trained in Kathak, a South Asian classical dance form known for its pirouettes, lyrical movements, and footwork. She received foundational training at Kadamb, an institute founded-directed by Kumudini Lakhia. Fiana has performed independently and with dance companies across India, Pakistan, Canada, Japan, and France. Her full-length production, “Nrityavandan: Ode to Dance,” premiered in Tokyo upon invitation. Her recent work is supported by the Dance Centre, New Works, Vines Art Society, and TheCultch’s IGNITE!. She centres interdisciplinary collaboration and public-engagement in her work.
