FREE Masterclass with Ōkāreka Dance Company

As part of the New Zealand-based Ōkāreka Dance Company’s visit, Artistic Director Taiaroa Royal will facilitate a free dance masterclass open to beginner and intermediate dancers.

You can expect an eclectic mix of ballet, contemporary dance, and powerful explosive techniques while travelling through space with a sense of purpose and direction. Tai’s classes often start with floor work inviting participants to release the body into the floor while engaging the core. Then, the class transitions to standing and ends on a strong note with jumps and a phrase combination that travels across the floor. Living in a country with wide open spaces, Tai likes to move with bigness to eat up the space he dances in.

For Beginner + Intermediate dancers.

This class will be held in the Shaw Studio at Dance Victoria Studios.
