Gibney Company is a world-class contemporary dance company led by Gina Gibney and Gilbert T. Small II. Based at Gibney, a dance and social justice organization founded in 1991, the Company underwent an ambitious reinvention in 2020 following a major donor gift. Since then, commissioned choreographers have included Bryan Arias, Rena Butler, Alan Lucien Øyen, Gustavo Ramirez Sansano, Micaela Taylor, Sonya Tayeh, and Yue Yin. The Company’s repertory also includes works by renowned international choreographers Johan Inger, Ohad Naharin, and Sharon Eyal of L-E-V Company in Israel. The program features Eyal’s SARA.
The troupe’s superpower is clear: its strong and versatile dancers, artists who appear to be physically capable of anything.
