Dance Victoria is committed to making world-class dance accessible to everyone in the community. Since 2005, we have provided free tickets to children and families facing financial and other challenges to our annual presentation of Nutcracker.
In response to demand, this program expanded in 2022 with the Dance Is For Everyone initiative, now distributing over 300 free tickets to performances across our season, in partnership with local community organizations.

Dance Is For Everyone is an expansion of Dance Victoria’s popular ticket access program, Nutcracker Kids. Each year, we distribute over 200 free tickets to performances across the season–working closely with community partners to ensure tickets reach those individuals and families who otherwise wouldn’t have access.
The program is vital to Dance Victoria’s vision–that everyone in our community can experience the transformative power of world-class dance. Each winter, Nutcracker Kids invites children and families to experience Nutcracker at the Royal Theatre–at no cost.
For many young people, it's a first encounter with dance and their first steps inside a theatre. We treat that as something very special: a seat at this full-scale production, and the same experience as every other audience member.
Every dollar goes directly to the cost of tickets and staff administration of these programs. Tickets are distributed by Dance Victoria’s long-time community partners, including the Inter-Cultural Association of Greater Victoria, Victoria Women’s Transition House, Victoria Native Friendship Centre, and more.

Dance Victoria's studios and presentations are on the ancestral lands of the Lekwungen people, known today as the Esquimalt and Songhees Nations, whose people have lived and danced on these lands since time immemorial.
